The Community Giants Limited
Upcycling is the name of the games for these youngsters. After hearing about Grants for Good on the radio, project director John Palmer was encouraged to apply for a grant to help transform an unused space into a retail environment and was awarded £2,000 in July 2017.
He says: “There are a number of young people who are struggling to access training or employment in the current market and really miss out on essential support.
The Community Giants provide drop in sessions to engage these young people as well as training and workshop facilities where they are taught to upcycle materials and make products that can be sold and create an income for themselves.
Thanks to the support of The Nottingham, 30 young people will benefit but more than that, this project will be sustainable for a long time after.”
The shop in Leicester will open later this year.
