Cash for your Community voting closes with record votes

This year’s Cash for your Community campaign with The Nottingham Post and Leicester Mercury is almost at an end with a record number of votes. The campaign has been running for three years now although this is the first year it has been run in Leicester.

Since April, almost 400 local community groups applied to register with 300 lucky groups going through to voting stage. Over the last four weeks, over 200,000 votes have been collected for groups in Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, all hoping to get a slice of the dream fund. And they have been incredibly creative in their vote collecting, even enlisting the help of some four-legged friends!

Vicky Hall, partnership and sponsorships manager for Nottingham Building Society, said: ‘The Cash For Your Community initiative has generated a lot of excitement among local groups who have been busy collecting tokens.

‘We know the money will be a lifeline to so many of them.’

Awards will be announced week commencing 21 July in the Nottingham Post and Leicester Mercury. Generic News Story
