Property DIY Competition

Preparing your property for the selling market should be the most straightforward process. You talk to an estate agent, get a valuation, confirm which agency is going to sell your house (usually down to price and who you liked the best) and the board is set. It’s then the simple case of getting your house in order for those essential viewings.

Easy so far? You’d think so, the difficulty comes when you start decorating your property. It should be simple, but it seldom is. And what should be a 10 minute job fixing a new light switch will end up taking all day.

If that’s the worst of your DIY issues you’re pretty lucky. We’ve heard all sorts of stories from the bold man who managed to get himself an unwanted toupee after accidently rubbing his head along a newly painted ceiling to the women who got a new hair style after drilling through a hidden electricity wire.

At the time they’re a bit of a house seller’s nightmare, but with time, the trauma heals and with a bit of embellishing you’ve got a great story to tell you friends on a social occasion. And we want to hear them all, from the smallest to the grandest of DIY disasters, some funny, some that will make you weep.

If a story shared is a pain halved…let us show you you’re not alone, and the sting might even help you win £25 in vouchers*.

We’ve launched our DIY disaster competition on Facebook. It’s really simple, come and ‘Like’ our Facebook page and then post your best or most amusing DIY disaster story. The best story picked will win a £25 ‘Love to Shop’ voucher*.

If you are thinking about putting your house on the market, contact us to arrange a ‘Free No Obligation Valuation’. Unlike many other estate agents, we have a team of sales progression specialists who are dedicated solely to progressing your sale once you accept an offer to give it the best chance of success.
