Estate agent’s heart set on Mr England crown

Market Harborough could soon proudly boast its very own Mr England - if our estate agent Zachary Oldershaw lands the gong in the national final.

Zachary, sales manager at Harrison Murray Estate Agency in the Leicestershire town, was recently named Mr Nottingham 2017 - an honour that qualifies him for the national finals in Birmingham in July.

However, the modest 22-year-old is keen to highlight that the competition is more than just a ‘catwalk’ - it is the fundraising side of things that attracted him to get involved in the first place and the fuel that is driving him on.

Zachary, who lives in Leicester, said: “What is happening is all a bit of a whirlwind, to be honest. A friend suggested I contact the organisers, Miss England, and submit an application and they put me in the Mr Nottingham competition.

“Just two weeks later I went over to Nottingham, feeling poorly on the day and expecting very little to be honest, and somehow found myself heading home with a bottle of champagne and a trophy. No-one was more surprised than me.

“I like the idea of being involved from a challenge point of view - the competitive element boosts confidence.

“But most of all, and it’s something I focused on for the Nottingham competition, I want to put my energy into raising the profile of and funds for the charity Beauty With A Purpose and to show that modelling can and should be so much more than just the catwalk – for some of us it’s also a platform to being able to make a difference.”

It is somewhat ironic that Zachary has become Mr Nottingham as Harrison Murray - whom he returned to work for two months ago after previously leaving to take up a role with a competitor – is of course part of The Nottingham.

The fact hasn’t escaped Zachary, who added: “As much as I love modelling I am also extremely passionate about being an estate agent and am hoping I can continue to make both elements work well.

“I really enjoy helping people onto, and along, the property ladder and especially for such a good company like Harrison Murray, who are part of The Nottingham. That’s why I returned to work here.

“So, yes, I may be Leicestershire based, but there is definitely a very obvious and strong link to Nottingham. I’m proud to be ‘bridging that gap’ and hope that what I’m achieving inside and away from work is helping other people as well as building my experience and character.”

Mr Nottingham, Zachary Oldershaw
