Fundraising dad Matt is Sophie's choice

Four-year-old Sophie Hill is always dad Matt’s number one fan - and things were no different when he undertook a gruelling run to raise money for people affected by cancer.

Arnold-based estate agency manager Matt swapped brogues for trainers to take part in the 2017 Nottingham 10k, and raised over £275 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

By his own admission running is not the 43-year-old’s forte so it was something of a challenge however his devoted daughter was in the crowd cheering him on and helping him over the finish line.

Sophie said: “It was very nice of my daddy to do this and it shows he has a very kind heart.

“I was the first person to sponsor him because I wanted him to know how proud I am and how much I love him. I am pleased he made lots of money for charity.”

Dad Matt added: “Running is most certainly not my thing and what with work and family life I have to admit that the training regime has been a bit sparse so it was tough.

“But I was running alongside a good friend of mine and was spurred on by several supporters, including Sophie. They were a big help.

“The run was nothing compared to what many people suffering from cancer, and their families go through. Hopefully the money people kindly donated can go some way towards helping some of them.”
