Nottingham Building Society sustainability report

Being responsible isn’t new to us at The Nottingham.

We were founded in 1849 to help people save and buy a home, but even back then, we gave back and supported the wider community too. Today, we remain responsible, ethical and socially conscious by nature. Plus, as a mutual with no shareholders, we always make decisions with people – rather than profits – at heart.

In our very first sustainability report, we reflect on the work we’re doing to become a more responsible society, focusing specifically on our people, our community, and the environment. It also sets out our agenda for the next 12 months, explaining how we’re going to do even better for our members, teams, and the planet.

However, we know there’s still much more we can do. By setting our agenda, we can track our progress, hold ourselves accountable, and set ambitious goals to fit our ever-changing world.

Being a responsible society isn’t a box we can tick; it’s a commitment, something we’ve been working on for decades and will continue working on for years to come. It means doing more than ‘our bit’, going above and beyond to support our teams, give back to our community, and reduce our impact on the environment. It’s who we are, and who we want to be. And it’s one way we’re carving a path to a brighter future.

So our work doesn’t stop here; in fact, this is where it really begins.
