Paper mortgage application process
Please use a paper application form only in the following scenarios:
Residential
- Porting a product.
Buy-to-let
- Porting a product.
If the above scenarios apply, follow these steps:
- Download a copy of the residential paper application form or the buy-to-let paper application form.
- For residential applications you must complete an affordability calculation for your clients. Nottingham Building Society assesses an applicant's borrowing ability using an affordability test based on their income, commitments and spending. This will confirm the maximum amount we can lend based on the remaining term of the existing mortgage product.
- You can email your completed paper application forms to mortgage.processing@thenottingham.com. Please include all supporting documents (see the list below) and the booking and valuation fee (if applicable).
- Once received, our lending team will assess your application. They’ll contact you with the name and details of the underwriter for your case and any added requirements. They’ll provide a 10-digit mortgage account number.
Supporting documents
With each application, please provide copies of supporting documentation, not originals:
- Last months' payslips (unless regular additional income is to be assessed when 3 months' is needed) or last 2 years SA302 and corresponding Tax Year Overviews.
- Last months' bank statements showing all transactions may be required.
- Certified photocopies of ID for each applicant we cannot accept photographs.
Proof of address: it's assumed that an electoral roll search will verify proof of address. If it doesn’t, you’ll be asked to submit documentary evidence.
We can’t use the same document to check the applicant's ID and address. If you can't provide any of the above documents, please contact the intermediary enquiry line on 0344 481 2010 and choose option 2 to discuss your options.
