Home insurance win leads to windfall for Framework
A prize draw win for Arthur Sandford, one of our long-standing members, has led to a windfall for local homelessness charity Framework.
Mr Sandford, a former Chief Executive of Nottinghamshire County Council and current Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, handed over a cheque for £300 after winning a home insurance prize draw at our Nottingham city branch recently.
It was during a recent visit to the branch to transact on his account that customer reviewer Balvinder Kaur mentioned to Mr Sandford that, by requesting a no obligation home insurance quote, he would be entered into a prize draw.
That is exactly what he did and was then randomly chosen as one of our eight lucky winners who each received £500.
After hearing the news that he had won Mr Sandford explained why he had decided to make such a generous donation to Framework: “I’ve supported Framework for some time as I think homelessness must be one of the most wretched situations a person can face.
“I am very happy to give this donation because I know how badly funding cuts have affected the charity over the last few years.”
Mr Sandford also donates his annual heating allowance to charity. One year it goes to Framework, the next to The Salvation Army in memory of his father who was supported by the charity when he was a soldier in the 1930s.
Tori Harrison, a member of Framework’s fundraising team, said: “This donation really does mean a lot to us. It is a very generous amount of money that many people may have chosen to spend on themselves.
“At Framework we are working every day to get people off the streets, but the number of people who are ‘street homeless’ has doubled over the last few years. This money will really help us to continue to support local people.”
Mr Sandford, who lives in Edwalton, has now turned our no obligation ‘Take Your Pick’ insurance quote into an insurance policy following his win in the prize draw.
He has been a member of The Nottingham for many years and has also passed on his financial acumen to his daughter, who is also one of our members.
