Northants estate agents’ festive Shoe Box Appeal
Our Northamptonshire estate agents are boxing clever with a Christmas appeal to help hundreds of families across the county.
As part of the Harrison Murray and the Nottingham Building Society’s ‘Doing Good Together
’ community initiative, the East Hunsbury branch has pledged its support to the Shoe Box Appeal.
The appeal challenges estate agency colleagues throughout the company to fill a shoe box of essential goods to donate to local charities of their choice in time for Christmas.
The charities include homeless charities, food banks, children’s charity or care homes.
The team at East Hunsbury, which is also enlisting the help of children from Campion School, has chosen to support the Northampton branch of the Trussell Trust Foodbank Project – which helps to ensure the many families who are unable to afford food do not go hungry, particularly during the festive season.
Some filled shoe boxes will also be donated to homeless people locally.
Harrison Murray trainee apprentice negotiator Alex Morehen is leading the East Hunsbury’s efforts, and has kick-started the campaign with a window display to encourage customers to get involved.
Items that can be included in a shoe box range from non-perishable foods like tins, rice, pasta and cereals to Christmas puddings, luxury food, festive biscuits and Christmas crackers.
Alex said: “We are delighted to be involved with this excellent opportunity as part of the Doing Good Together scheme, to support such a worthwhile charity.
“The idea has been met with great enthusiasm so far, and we are hoping to have plenty of shoe boxes to deliver to the charity by mid-December.”
Customers who would like to offer support can find out the details at the branch in Butts Road.
Meanwhile, there is also the chance for customers to help support the Shoe Box Appeal at other branches in Northampton.
The Duston branch is collecting items for The Children’s Society – which helps vulnerable youngsters in the area, while the team at the town centre office in George Row are also supporting the Trussell Trust Foodbank Project and the Homeless Shelter.
