Skegness gear up for SportsAid Week
A five-day static bike challenge by the team our Skegness branch has raised more than £400 for SportsAid as we gear up for the charity’s second ‘SportsAid Week’.
The branch are supporting local table tennis star Darcie Proud who at just 14 years old is already playing for England Cadets and making a name for herself on the international circuit.
The team enlisted the help of local gym Fresh Fitness and took it in turns to cover the distance whilst collecting monetary donations from customers.
Branch manager Adam Moore says “I am super-proud of the team and what they have achieved this week.
"The main barrier to athletes’ progress is often financial so every penny really does count.”
The charity’s second annual ‘SportsAid Week’ kicks off on 25th September and asks supporters to fundraise to support the next generation of stars by doing a mile, or more, and nominating someone else to do the same via social media with the hashtag #MyMiles.
Adam adds “At The Nottingham, we are asking customers to give up a daily treat or just a bit of small change to hopefully generate £800 or a mile of change. This would help fund an athlete for a whole year.”
Donations can be made at any building society branch between 25th September and 1st October.
