Cash for Kids boost thanks to dynamic duo
Half-marathon heroes Andrew Morley and David Watson raced their way to over £425 for Hallam FM Cash For Kids.
The kind-hearted pair recently pounded the streets of Sheffield in the Plusnet Yorkshire Half-marathon to raise the substantial sum for the charity.
Andrew, a customer adviser at our Sheffield city centre branch, and head office-based David, who is part of the finance team, ran the course together - cheered on by colleagues and company mascot Robin Hood - in impressive times of two hours and three minutes (a personal best for Andrew) and one hour and 50 minutes respectively.
Even more importantly they smashed their sponsorship target of £250 and added further funds to the coffers of Hallam FM Cash For Kids, a charity that the Sheffield branch have supported for several years.
Andrew said: “Our South Yorkshire based branches are very proud supporters of Cash For Kids and I enjoy running so when I decided to take part in the half-marathon it was the obvious charity to raise money for.
“We put out an appeal to our head office colleagues in Nottingham and it was great that David decided to take part and that Robin made his way up from Sherwood Forest to cheer us on too.
“It’s great to have raised so much money for such a great cause – a big thank you to everyone, including many of our customers, who sponsored us.”
David added: “Taking part in the half-marathon was a tremendous experience. The people of Sheffield were amazing - lining the streets in their droves and cheering everyone on. It really helped get us over the finish line.”
