Dawn of the tread
Caring customer adviser Dawn Bradbury is literally putting steps in place to raise substantial funds for Cancer Research.
The 54-year-old, who works at our Eastwood branch, is walking 10,000 steps a day throughout the month of June, equating to over 150 miles - roughly the distance between Birmingham and London!
Dawn, who lives in Rise Park, has personal experience of cancer affecting close family members and decided on the charitable activity after hearing all about Cancer Research’s Walk All Over Cancer on a radio advert.
And the extremely positive response of family and friends - and our customers - has already been emphatic as she has already raised over £800.
Dawn said: “Cancer affects the vast majority of people in some way or form and it has certainly had a huge effect on my family over the last few years. I wanted to step up, pardon the pun, and do something so when I heard about Walk All Over Cancer I decided to take part.
“When you work full-time and have a family it’s not easy to get 10,000 steps in a day and I don’t live near enough to the branch to walk to work so I have to be creative.
“There have been lots of dog walks in the mornings and evenings with my beloved Bernese Mountain Dog Sasha and I’m definitely in my colleagues’ good books as I’ve been doing all the tea and coffee runs!
“People’s response has been very humbling. I set about making a couple of hundred pounds, £500 at a push, so to be on over £800 worth of sponsorship already - the vast majority of it from kind-hearted customers - is amazing. Thank you to everyone who has given so generously.”
