Leicestershire estate agents offer food for thought

Our Leicestershire estate agents are boxing clever with a Christmas appeal to help hundreds of families across the county.

As part of the Nottingham Building Society (of which we are part) Doing Good Together community initiative, the Halford Street branch has pledged its support to the Shoe Box Appeal.

The appeal challenges estate agency colleagues throughout the company to fill a shoe box of essential goods to donate to local charities of their choice in time for Christmas.

The charities include homelessness charities, food banks, children’s charity or care homes.

However, not content with simply filling shoe boxes, the Halford Street team is filling BOOT boxes with essentials to support the many people who use and benefit from Leicester-based Charity Link.

The charity, which helps people who find themselves in poverty, hardship or crisis, also runs a city centre food bank – which distributed over 6,000 parcels in its first year.

As the demand for the service continues to grow, Harrison Murray is asking customers to support their appeal and donate what they can to make the festive season a little easier for many local people.

Items which can be included in a shoe/boot box include non-perishable and long life foods like tins, rice, pasta, cereals, tea, coffee, festive biscuits and chocolate, cooking oils and long life milk.

Other essentials such as toothpaste, disposable nappies, toiletries, toilet rolls and household cleaning products are also welcome.

Zara Laxman, senior residential manager at Halford Street, said: “We are delighted to be involved with this excellent opportunity as part of the Doing Good Together scheme, to support such a worthwhile charity.

“The idea has been met with great enthusiasm so far, and we are hoping to have plenty of boot boxes to deliver to the charity by mid-December to distribute to those who really need them this Christmas.”

Customers who would like to offer support can take their donations to the branch at 7-9 Halford Street.
