Mortgage advice at the double

Soon-to-be new homeowner Lisa Mellor found things to be twice as nice when she turned to Nottingham Mortgage Services for a second time to secure her mortgage.

Having previously arranged a remortgage via Mortgage and Protection Adviser Carla Peel, three years ago, Lisa had no hesitation in going down the same route again to help secure the funds to make her recent house purchase happen.

The end result is a three-bed family home in Carlton, Nottingham, that she and daughter Ellie are, at the time of writing, excitedly putting plans in place to move in to.

Lisa’s introduction to The Nottingham came when Ellie was just a couple of years old and she set up a savings account for her. Over time branch staff got to know Lisa and her financial goals – including her mortgage requirements – and she was introduced to Carla.

From then on things began to fall into place. By Lisa’s own admission the road has been a fairly long one but, as she explains, one that Carla has expertly guided her along.

Sales Rep Lisa, 49, takes up the tale: “Branch staff first introduced me to Nottingham Mortgage Services and I’m very grateful that they did. I was interested when branch manager Adam Nanda said they would be able to impartially search across many lenders to find the right deal for me.

There was no hard sell, in fact she suggested that, if I agreed, my immediate focus should probably be on focusing on finances – my earnings potential, debt levels etc. – and that we could talk again in due course.

“I went away and looked at things, and after another conversation with Carla a few months down the line I was able to get the remortgage that was most suitable for me. I then started thinking about the future goal of a new place for Ellie and I.

“Nearly three years on I was in a position to start looking for a new house and there was no doubt in my mind where I would go for the mortgage. “It turned out the right thing for me to do was to transfer my current mortgage but access some additional borrowing so my situation was a little complex and it took a bit of time, but Carla stayed by my side throughout and communicated effectively at every turn.”

Now Lisa and Ellie, 8, can concentrate fully on the house move, and whilst they are leaving behind many memories, they are really looking forward to making many more in a new home that is closer to family and friends.

Lisa adds: “When Ellie saw the new house for the first time she was very keen to see which bedroom will be hers and excited that she’ll have more space downstairs to play in and a bigger garden.
