Pro stars join the fun as draw is made at tennis taster day
Pro tennis players Karolina Pliskova and Freya Christie served up a treat at The Nottingham’s latest tennis taster day by joining members of the public in making the draw for the AEGON Open Nottingham women’s tournament.
Czech Republic’s Pliskova, ranked 19 in the world, and Nottingham’s very own Christie – who has been supported in reaching her goals via the society’s relationship with SportsAid – visited at the end of a day which also saw men, women and children alike try out tennis on Smithy Row in Nottingham.
They were treated to mini tennis, a serving speedometer, indoor inflatable tennis amongst other things, and were also able to access information about The Nottingham’s products and services.
Six-year-olds Kyle Lawrence and Anita Nzungu – seen below pictured with Pliskova and Christie – were amongst the passers-by who took part in the draw. The two lucky youngsters were then invited to have a doubles ‘knock’ with the tennis stars, both of whom are participating in the 2016 AEGON Open Nottingham.
Once again this year we are proud to be event partners of the tournament, which is held at Nottingham Tennis Centre.
