SportsAid stars get their 'time to shine'
34 of our SportsAid stars joined us in Nottingham last week for a special workshop day. Held at the home of Nottingham football, Forest’s City Ground, the young athletes spent time learning about their sponsor followed by a grilling by Nottingham Post editor Mike Sassi and The Media Group as part of their media training and a session on nutrition from LunchBox Doctor and TV regular, Jenny Tschiesche.
The sporting stars were joined by former SportsAid athlete Tim Baillie MBE who won Gold at London 2012 in slalom canoe with Etienne Stott. Tim was on hand throughout the day to share his experiences with the athletes as well as offer advice and tips.
During the day, athletes were encouraged to share their day via social media which was shown on a live feed in the media sessions.
17 year old Hucknall Tennis player Freya Christie who has recently returned from competing in China and Thailand said 'Thanks for a great day, I have really learnt a lot!'
Rower Oliver Dix, 17, from Leicester also enjoyed his day saying ‘Hearing Tim talk about his experiences and finding out some ‘top tips’ in the nutrition workshop has really helped me.’
Track and Field star Ella Barrett, 16, from Chesterfield added ‘I feel grateful for both Sports Aids support and the Building Society's.’
