Starters orders for SportsAid 2018

In the last five years, more than 160 athletes have been supported by The Nottingham through the charity SportsAid.

The range of sports have gone from archery to taekwondo and a number of our alumni have reached elite level competing in Olympic, Paralympic and World Championship competitions. We are delighted to be sponsoring 37 new athletes this year!

On the ice in Nottingham we will be cheering on speed-skaters Jonathan Moody, Ethan Treacy, Isaac Raizada and Brenden Marshall who will join our existing skater Isabelle Roberts.

On the pitch we will be keeping an eye on the ball-skills of footballers Lucy O’Brien, Olivia Smith, Blue Wilson and Shania Hayles along with England player Nathan Edge.

On the cycle tracks we will be watching Josie Nelson as well as para-cyclist and former national champion Chloe Selman, whilst on the athletics field Amy Hunt, Luke Duffy, Felicia Miloro and Emily Race will be making an appearance alongside existing athletes Jess Turner, Alex Knibbs and Joel Leon Benitez.

And, for the first time, we will be supporting a Leicester Tigers Academy player - George Martin! The 17-year-old second row from Loughborough joined the academy in 2017 and was named in the England U18 side last month.

Simon Taylor, Chief Operating Officer says “I am really excited to be working with some fantastic athletes again this year, and it’s great to see a Leicester Tiger in there!

“SportsAid do a great job of supporting athletes at just the right stage of their career financially, and we give them some invaluable insight into working with a corporate sponsor.

“We are delighted to play a continued role in the amazing work SportsAid do.”

Our SportsAid stars will be attending our annual athlete workshop at Nottingham Racecourse on Tuesday 24th April where this year’s programme will be formally launched.
