Are you inspired by Doing Good Together? Luckily there are lots of ways that you too can join in and help support our local communities.

Here are our Top 5 things that you can do:-

Note all links open in a new window

1. Donate to a local charity
Ever wanted to contribute to a local cause rather than one of the big national charities. Well now you can. Log onto where you can find information about charities in your area and make that donation a local one.

2. Take part in one of our fundraising events
We’ve partnered with local charity Framework to help raise money to tackle homelessness in our heartland. Our staff will be organising fundraising events throughout the year and we’d love you to join in.

3. Volunteer
Want a sense of achievement, to learn new skills, meet new people and do some good? These are all potential benefits of volunteering in your local community - so why not give it a whirl.

There are lots of opportunities on wherever you live. Or you can visit your local volunteer centre.

And if you are based in Nottingham you can also find help at Nottingham Community and Voluntary Service.

4. Set up your own charity fund
If you have more than £10,000 to donate or want to give large amounts regularly, consider setting up your own local giving fund. The Nottingham works in partnership with Nottinghamshire Community Foundation who administer numerous funds on behalf of individuals and organisations. You can chose exactly how you would like your money to be spent.

There are also other Community Foundations covering Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire

5. Leave a legacy in your Will
You can’t take it with you – so make it work for a good cause.

Contact your solicitor to talk about leaving a legacy in your Will. Use a Community Foundation to ensure the money is spent locally. Generic News Story
