Chloe and Jordan's mortgage story

For Chloe Mayes and her partner Jordan Fisher, purchasing their first home was a great experience and they were keen to ensure that happened again when it came to remortgaging their property as their fixed-term came to an end. The couple, who live in Worksop, first visited The Nottingham in 2014 when they popped to their local branch to open a savings account with the aim of putting aside enough money for a house deposit.

A year later and closer to their goal, the branch recommended they call Nottingham Mortgage Services to get the most suitable deal for them*. They spoke to an adviser, who conducted a whole of market search for the couple and found the right mortgage for them.

That and subsequent conversations were the catalyst for Chloe, 22, and Jordan, 24, to move into their first home, and they were delighted with the help and levels of customer service they received along the way. So much so that when their fixed rate period was about to expire Chloe picked up the phone and spoke to Nottingham Mortgage Services again. After searching over 50 lenders, they were able to provide hospital worker Chloe and welder Jordan with the remortgage option that was right for them. As with the original mortgage, the adviser stayed in touch over the following days and weeks with updates on how their application was progressing, right through to completion - even helping them shave seven years off the remaining term of the deal!

Chloe said: “Looking to buy a house can be very stressful, particularly when you are young and have no experience of the process. But from the first call, the adviser was friendly, knowledgeable and always happy to answer our questions.

“There was no hard sell and he explained that our deposit was small and that could impact on the rates we pay and maybe even limit our options, so we decided to go away and save more money so we could put a 10% deposit down a year later.

“When we had done that, we got back in touch and started the process. The adviser searched for the most suitable deal and played a huge part in helping us buy our first home. 

“So, earlier this year and with our fixed rate period about to expire, it was a no-brainer to get back in touch and, once again, the adviser was brilliant in helping us. In fact we have secured a deal that means we are paying the same each month but have taken several years off the term of the mortgage - we are delighted.

“My sister, who is 18, is in the process of saving up for a house deposit and I’ve already recommended Nottingham Mortgage Services to her for when she is ready to take the big step.”
