Estate agency role is all about people

Google the question ‘what do estate agents do?’ and the likelihood is that top of the search results list there will be an answer similar to this…

Estate agents sell or let residential or commercial properties, businesses or land on behalf of their clients. They look at the property's condition and compare it with others in the area to value it and get the best price for the client. They also market the property and negotiate on deals.

As overviews go, it’s not a bad one. But does it explain the role fully or the attributes needed to be an estate agent? Not quite.

Our estate agents (Nottingham Estate Agency and Harrison Murray) do indeed look to sell property by carrying out valuations and then negotiating the best deal for their client/s.

However, from the point of initial enquiry through to the handing over of keys there can sometimes be a number of hurdles to get over.

In order to make what can occasionally be a challenging process as smooth as possible it is imperative to not only have expertise and to be aware of up-to-the-minute trends and regulation but, equally as important, to remember that the buying and selling of property is, in most cases, a very emotive process and one through which we always pride ourselves on keeping the customer’s requirements at the very top of the list.

Whether we are taking the initial enquiry, are on a follow-up call, conducting a valuation or viewing, carrying out sensitive negotiations, shaking hands on a deal, seeing a sale through to completion via our bespoke Head Office sales progressors or handing over the keys, for us it is always about people, not profits.

One of the many testimonials and compliments we receive about our estate agency business arrived recently in the form of an email from Nottinghamshire-based Andy Derz after we sold his property.

His kind words focused on our sales progression team, however the qualities he spoke about that sales progressor Lucy Attfield demonstrated are instilled in all of our estate agency staff.
