Leicester’s homeless to benefit from seasonal support
Groby estate agents Harrison Murray are giving their seasonal support to a homeless charity, in efforts to bring a little festive cheer to those who need it most.
As part of the Nottingham Building Society (of which Harrison Murray is part) ‘Doing Good Together’ community initiative, the branch has pledged its support to the Shoe Box Appeal.
The appeal challenges estate agency colleagues throughout the company to fill a shoebox with essential goods to donate to local charities of their choice in time for Christmas.
They include homelessness charities, food banks, children’s charities or care homes.
The Groby team has chosen to support The Bridge – Homelessness to Hope – which provides food and clothing for the homeless, as well as running a drop-in centre.
And with the charity’s target group being people sleeping rough, hostel residents and those others who are vulnerable, Harrison Murray is hoping that with the support of their customers they can fill dozens of shoe boxes with non-perishable food, hats, scarves, gloves, toiletries and other essentials.
Customers or members of the public are invited to call into the in Ratby Road office with shoe box items or even empty shoe boxes ready to be filled!
Emma Jenkins, Harrison Murray valuer, said: “We are delighted to be involved with this excellent opportunity as part of the Doing Good Together scheme to support such a worthwhile charity – and one which is on our doorstep.
“The idea has been met with great enthusiasm so far, and we are hoping to have plenty of shoe boxes to deliver to the charity by mid-December.”
