Sheffield branches on a mission

Our Sheffield team are on a mission to make it a better Christmas for over 25,000 children across the city and beyond.

Staff at the branch - which recently relocated to modern new premises on Norfolk Row - are being joined by colleagues at the Firth Park location in the city and branches at Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre, Dinnington and Worksop in collecting gifts which on Christmas Day will end up in the hands of young people inadvertently trapped in a cycle of poverty.

The Hallam FM Mission Christmas appeal aims for people to buy one extra gift when doing their shopping and to pop into a ‘drop-off point’ such as one of the branches and place it into the large festive-themed, branded donation box.

Brendan O’Connor, branch manager at Norfolk Row and Crystal Peaks, said: “We are passionate supporters of Mission Christmas and are delighted and proud to once again be a drop-off point, along with colleagues at our nearby branches.

“I appeal to customers visiting our shiny new branch on Norfolk Row - and anyone passing by that wants to pop in and donate - to give as generously as they can to make sure a child somewhere in South Yorkshire is guaranteed at least one Christmas present that they may not otherwise get.

“As a mutual building society we pride ourselves on giving back to our local communities and Hallam FM’s Mission Christmas is a fantastic way of doing exactly that.”

Our participation in Mission Christmas is just one of many exciting goings-on in and around Sheffield currently, and in the near future.

The new Norfolk Row branch has begun opening until 7pm on Thursdays as part of the city’s ‘Alive after 5’ initiative that has seen a number of organisations and retailers open their doors to customers after the traditional 5pm closing time.

Its aim is to transform the city centre ‘after hours’ and convince more of the almost 40,000 people who commute into Sheffield every day to stay after work instead of going home.

And we recently celebrated a presence in another part of the region when we opened the doors to the new branch in Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre.

Brendan added: “It really is exciting times for The Nottingham in Sheffield. What is most pleasing of all is that what we have been getting involved in and what we have planned for the future has been met with such warmth by the people of South Yorkshire.”

Those wanting to donate a present to the Mission Christmas appeal can do so at any of the following branches:
  • 9-11 Norfolk Row, Sheffield, S1 2PA
  • 17 Bellhouse Road, Firth Park, S5 6HJ
  • 61 Laughton Road, Dinnington, S25 2PN
