Shoe Box Appeal kick-starts agents’ Christmas cheer in Cambs

Our offices in Cambridgeshire are boxing clever with a Christmas appeal to help vulnerable adults across the county.

Staff from the branches in Chatteris, March and Wisbech are joining forces to support a Shoe Box Appeal, as part of the Nottingham Building Society’s ‘Doing Good Together’ community initiative.

The appeal challenges estate agency colleagues throughout the company to fill a shoe box of goods to donate to local charities of their choice in time for Christmas.

The Cambridgeshire branches will be supporting well-known March-based charity Eddie’s, by helping to bring a little festive cheer to the adults using and benefiting from the service it provides.

Eddie’s has been supporting people with learning disabilities in Cambridgeshire for over 10 years. Formerly part of Cambridgeshire Mencap, it provides a wide range of services for children, young people and adults with learning disabilities, as well as their families and carers.

The charity also offers practical support and lots of exciting opportunities for volunteers.

Through the Shoe Box Appeal, Harrison Murray colleagues are appealing for customers to donate items for adults, including non perishable food items, Christmas crackers, quiz books, socks, gloves, hats, toiletries, gifts – and even empty shoe boxes ready to be filled!

Harrison Murray Sales Manager Sharon Aylward said: “Our three Cambridgeshire branches have joined forces to support an extremely worthwhile charity which helps so many people in the local area.

“We are confident that this will capture the imagination of our many generous customers.”

Volunteer support co-ordinator at Eddie’s, Suzanne Lombardo, added: “We are thrilled that Harrison Murray Estate Agents have chosen to support our charity and would like to thank in advance the kindness and generosity of local people who will be helping so many others this Christmas.”

The appeal runs from 1-21 December, when all the donated items will be presented to Eddie’s for distribution.

Anyone wishing to bring donations into one of the branches can do so at:
  • 39 Broad Street, March
  • 46 High Street, Chatteris
  • 9-10 Bridge Street, Wisbech
