Starters orders for SportsAid 2017
We’re proud to be supporting 50 of our brightest stars on the road to sporting success through the charity SportsAid.
This is our fifth year of supporting the charity and this year’s athletes were announced at a launch event at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground. Covering 28 sports from Archery to Waterskiing, the athletes are some of our brightest hopes for future Olympics and Paralympics and many are already competing for their country.
This year’s athletes
Aiming high are archers Louis Perkins, Lizzie Warner and Kian Watkins.
On the track we’ll be cheering on athletes Emma Achurch, Alex Knibbs, Joel Leon Benitez, Gerald Matthew, Tilly Simpson, Lee Thompson, Jayden Saberton and Jessica Turner, as well as triathletes Olivia Mathias and Caitlin Roper.
We’ll also be supporting badminton players Grace King, Hope Warner and David Hong, squash player Harry Falconer, and table tennis player Darcie Proud.
In and on the water you can expect to see canoers Samuel Maingay, Ewan Vernon and Charlie Smith and rower Tobias Schroder. Also on display will be water-skier Harry Spavi, swimmers Hayley Milne and Anna Falkus, and diver Richelle Houlden.
And on the ice and snow…skaters Jack Crawford, Natalie Crawford, Izzy Roberts and Talya Kaye; skiers Ethan Davis and Justin Taylor-Tipton, and bobsleigher Adam Hames.
On the courts and the greens we’ll be getting behind hockey players Alice Huddlestone and Joshua Pavis, cricketer Lucy Higham, baskeball player Lucy Robinson and golfer James Bailey, as well as cheering on footballers Taylor Hinds and Billy-Lee Dixon and rugby union player Tabitha Copson.
On the tracks we’ll be watching cyclists Alec Gregory and Poppy Wildman and in the ring, boxers Ethan James, Benjamin Vaughan and Shona Whitwell.
And finally, martial artists Jaime-Leigh Whittaker (Judo) and Adrian Wagstaff (taekwondo) and weight-lifter Emily Campbell.
