Nottingham Building Society's Dereham branch

Norfolk market town Dereham is situated about 15 miles west of Norwich and 25 miles east of King’s Lynn and labels itself “The Heart of Norfolk”, due to its central location in the county. Dereham is on the A47 bypass, which runs all the way from Wisbech to Great Yarmouth and was formerly part of a railway line used as a location for the filming of Dad’s Army.

Food for thought… branch team support local charity

Our Dereham team decided to do something to help those less fortunate and arranged for the branch to become a donation drop-off point for the Mid Norfolk Foodbank.

Colleagues have also agreed to give up time to help the charity out through volunteering.

Branch manager Charley McIlwhan, pictured with some of the donations, said: “We’re always looking for ways to support and give back to our local community, so when we heard about the foodbank’s great work we simply had to get involved.”

Teaming up with Norfolk colleagues to net SportsAid £400

Dereham staff got together with colleagues in Thetford and Fakenham to organise a charity football match - and scored hundreds of pounds for SportsAid.

DESA beat Rockland United FC 6-2 at Rocklands All Saints’ ground in Attleborough in front of a crowd of over 150.

But the real winners were SportsAid, a charity that helps sports stars of tomorrow by providing funding and recognition, who benefited from stalls, a raffle and refreshments.
