Some 12 miles north of Nottingham, close to junction 28 of the M1 and the A60, sits the market town of Mansfield. It is an area heavily influenced by its industrial past of coal mining and textiles, which thrived until the 1990s. Settlement in the town is said to date back to Roman times, after which the Mercian kings are documented as using Mansfield as a base for hunting in nearby Sherwood Forest.

Platinum customer service award double
Our Mansfield branch team were proud to be presented with a Mansfield Bid Team Platinum Award for a second year in a row.
They received the award after a mystery shopper exercise conducted by customer experience consultancy Douglas Stafford resulted in a 100% score for service to members.
Assistant Branch Manager Julie Walker (second right of photo) said: “We are very proud. It shows how hard the team work to ensure all existing and new members are given excellent customer service every time they visit.”
Mansfield locals feel financially better off than a year ago
Mansfield is one of the top ten areas of the country where residents feel financially better off than they did twelve months ago, revealed a savings study* analysed by us.The Nottingham has retained an ethos of helping people to save and have a roof over their heads ever since we were founded by Quaker Samuel Fox exactly 170 years ago, so we were keen to delve into the data highlighting the UK areas that feel they are making the right strides forward financially.
Whilst London came out top of the pile in the study of nearly 175,000 residents, Mansfield (fifth) was the only East Midlands location to make the top ten, with 66% of people happier with their financial status than a year ago.
