About our Belper branch

Situated nine miles along the A6 from Derby, Belper has a history dating back to the Industrial Revolution, when the town started to grow and become synonymous for its textile mills. It is well known as the place where renowned industrialist Jedediah Strutt lived and worked, and forms part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. For many years, Belper was home to chocolate manufacturer Thornton’s (now based in nearby Swanwick).

Our Belper branch is in the centre of town on the corner of King Street and Strutt Street, in close proximity to shops, pubs, cafes and two large supermarkets. The expert and friendly branch team of customer ambassadors are happy to guide you through our range of building society services, from opening a new ISA savings account to finding you the right mortgage through Mortgage Advice Bureau.

Robert, October 2025

"Nottingham Building Society is a much needed asset to my local high street. I always receive excellent service and best of all is the fact I can call in to branch and talk to an actual person, which seems to be getting quite rare in these modern technical times. The staff at my branch are so friendly and very knowledgeable and professional. I come away feeling that I am valued as a customer."

Eric - October 2025

"Every time I go into branch I always feel welcome and always asked if I would like a drink, which I feel is a lovely touch. Everybody's very obliging and nothing is too much trouble whether I need advice or withdraw money. I also love how you still use passbooks as this is my personal preference."
