Nottingham Building Society reacts to Emmanuel House successfully securing its long-term future
Nottingham Building Society, the mortgages and savings mutual, has welcomed the news that Emmanuel House Support Centre has reached — and exceeded — its fundraising target to purchase its Goose Gate building, securing a permanent home for its services supporting people who are homeless, rough sleeping, in crisis or vulnerable across Nottinghamshire.
Emmanuel House had been working to raise the final £75,000 required by 31 March to complete the purchase, following Nottingham City Council’s offer to sell the building — a once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect the charity’s work for decades to come.
Nottingham Building Society has doubled its annual donation contribution, taking its total support for the building fund campaign to over £100,000.
Sue Hayes, Chief Executive Officer at Nottingham Building Society, said: “This is wonderful news for Emmanuel House — and for Nottingham.
“Securing a permanent home on Goose Gate protects a service that thousands of people rely on each year for dignity, stability and support at some of the most difficult points in their lives. The whole city should feel proud of what’s been achieved.
“We’re delighted we could play a part in helping Emmanuel House get over the line. As a mutual, we exist to serve our communities in a meaningful and lasting way — and that means backing organisations like Emmanuel House at the moments that matter.
“And while reaching the target secures the building, Emmanuel House’s message is clear: the need hasn’t gone away. Demand continues to rise and the cost of delivering essential services is higher than ever. Any further support will go directly towards strengthening the day-to-day help people rely on.”
